The active ingredient in Snailban, metaldehyde, causes snails and slugs to produce excess mucus — a detoxification response that depletes their energy reserves and weakens them. Cell membranes are damaged and mucus-producing cells are irreversibly destroyed, leading to desiccation and death. Once this process begins, the pests cannot recover by reabsorbing moisture.
